Description
This fascinating video explains Yoga Therapy from the perspective of Neuroscience. Dr. Stephani Sutherland, Neuroscientist and Yoga teacher, will teach you how the nervous system works, and how yoga works on it. Learn about the possible states of our mind, the real problem with a chronically stressed out life-style, why spinal health is the key to a healthy body, and power of the breath in working with nervous system imbalances.
From the Yoga Sutras, to neurons and ganglia, from the nature of consciousness to healthy autonomic tone, Stephani will help you understand the important concepts of neuroscience and Yogic concepts of langhana and brhmana so you can make informed decisions on how to help your clients have better focus, healthier digestion, better immune function and even support recovery from brain trauma including stroke.
After this course you will understand:
• The meeting points between Neuroscience and Yoga
• The 5 activities of the mind
• The anatomy & physiology of the nervous system
• The peripheral, central, sensory and motor nervous systems
• The parts of the autonomic nervous system and what they control
• Why spine health = brain health
• The difference between healthy stress and unhealthy stress
• Brhmana Yoga Practices, how and when to use them
• Langhana Yoga Practices, how and when to use them
• How the brain and nervous system “repair” themselves
