Scientists and anatomists have dissected the the human body into separate muscles, nerves, blood vessels and physiological systems. However in reality the human body is an intricately interwoven universe, where each aspect has direct effect on the others.
The Marma Points are an ancient Ayurvedic expression of this holistic wisdom and are considered to be of deep healing significance. The 108 Marma Points are areas where muscle, tendon, bone, nerves, lymph and blood vessels converge, and specific pressure on these points is believed to engender healing in different areas and systems of the body.
This workshop will focus on the Marma Points in the foot and ankle specifically. Through the lens of Tom Myer’s Anatomy Trains Deep Front Line we will explore one possible view to the power and connectivity of this ancient Ayurvedic wisdom. You will learn to apply the therapeutic tools of asana, breath work and body reading, and gait analysis to address the Marma Points and help yourself and others engender health and balance in the body.
- Identify the marma points in the feet
- Understand the anatomical and physiological correlations of the marmas throughout the body
- Understand and identify how common seated, standing and gait (walking) misalignments will contribute to holistic imbalances.
- Apply asana as a diagnostic and prescriptive tool to work with marma points and gait issues.
